Upon review of the site I found that I had learned a few things. First, I was not aware that the state of Illinois had been considering a law allowing same-sex unions. In the state I reside in, we have had a law now for a couple of years allowing same sex marriage. In my opinion as long as the marriage is between consenting adults, the it doesnt matter if a couple is gay or straight. marriage is marriage.
The author of the site is obviously well versed on the given topic and passionate about it. Many people write about many topics but lack the passion and/or conviction as to what they are writting about. The way in which this person writes his/her blog shows that they are truely concerned and proud of what they are. The site author covers a wide range of topics as it relates to the gay community, and as such I found the reading informative interesting. What caught my attention the most, and this staement holds true for every single person alive, is that we are all narrow minded in some way. As the author points out, and I agree, is that people in any community are most often the most critical of their own community.
Although I am not gay myself, it has opened my eyes a bit more to some of the issues that the gay community faces on a day to day basis. In order to be a truly open society, we must set aside our own personal prejudices and narrow mindedness. The author points out in the site, is that in order to truly see people for who they are, we can and must set these false ideas asise. Overall the blog is a great read. I would highly reccomend this blog to anybody whether gay or straight in order to gain a broader and more focused view of our own respective hypocracies. Great job!!!
